FLASHTEK - Light Weight Snowshoes

Get the full mountaineering effect with these bad boys. The Flashtek lightweight snowshoes are the perfect choice for any family member, to have on hand for a survival event, or just for pure fun and adventures during the winter season.

I like how these come in 3 different sizes so you can get the right pair for your weight range or if you plan on having a backpack you will also take that weight into consideration. The design is ergonomic with a slight upturn and founded tail that I think helps with comfort when walking or climbing up steep slopes. These do well in deep snow and stay above the fluffy light snow quite well. The fast ratchet buckles allow for quick binding and fit your winter boots easily without any kind of issue. The kit also includes some nice equipment too, it has got a nice carry bag and trekking poles.

Having these in a kit for survival could be a good idea based on where you live – as well as add plenty of fun to your life if you are the type of person who enjoys walking on top of the snow and being out in the wilderness.

Winterial Lightweight Shasta Snowshoes

Another complete kit that comes with everything you need by Winterial. These are lightweight and durably made from a high-quality aluminum frame so you can get the best snowshoeing in your area. Adjustable poles that you can set to your height level for a better experience.

Great functionality that is made for the everyday snowshoer. The heels on this design make it a breeze to climb hills and the teeth help add better traction to grip snow and ice. Its comfort is not lacking in any way, these snowshoes can be worn for several hours comfortably. The frame and plastic they used to construct these are actually very durable so walking into any obstruction in the woods will not bother the frame much.

Another great pair to add to your survival gear if you have not already added a pair of survival snowshoes, I suggest highly thinking about it. I would recommend something like these to anyone looking for a great pair of sturdy snowshoes for survival or for the outback retreat.

Chinook 80006 Trekker Snowshoes

Lightweight and ideal for the survivalist or backyard snowshoer. Featuring a lightweight frame designed with ergonomics in mind to provide the maximum amount of comfort and easy snowshoeing.

A recommended load is between 180 -220 lbs. as these only have one size. Easy to use bindings and heel straps, simple and quick release button. This pair of snowshoes come with the bag only without the poles, which isn’t very important to me as a buyer but for someone looking for a complete kit I would recommend the first on our list, but if you are looking for a really good pair of affordable snowshoes then I would say you need to check these out first, they might be the best show survival snowshoes

How to Make Survival Snowshoes?

Let’s face it, not everybody will have a pair of snowshoes in a survival situation and if you are stuck in the woods for any reason without the proper snow gear then you could freeze your feet off.

One of the easiest ways to make your own pair of snowshoes to get you to points a to b doesn’t require much material.

Materials needed:

  1. 2 Shoe Laces
  2. Fir or spruce branch

Typically you should have a survival kit on hand – ideally anyways if you don’t already go add 2 shoe laces in your pack or lots of paracords!

Here are the steps to make your own survival snowshoes if you find yourself in the snow and need an easier way of walking through snow.

  1. Look for a branch that is thick enough to tie to the bottom of your boot. You can use many different types of branches but the best I’ve used is fir or spruce. Snap a piece off, typically around 16-20” or larger won’t hurt.
  2. Make sure you are tying your laces around the boot tight enough that they won’t come undone but also not too tight that you are going to snap your branch in half. You can get by wrapping your lace around once, if you have paracord you should be able to get two wraps around your boot for better support.
  3. Optional step (if for any reason you do not have very thick branches, you can just use more branches)

Final Thought

In conclusion, these top 3 survival snowshoes prove to be reliable companions for traversing through the winter wilderness. With their sturdy build and exceptional performance, you can trust them to withstand the challenges of deep snow and unpredictable conditions. Whether you choose one of these outstanding snowshoes or decide to craft your own DIY survival solution, having the right gear is essential for navigating the winter wonderland. So, gear up with the best snowshoes to confidently embrace the snowy landscapes and enhance your chances of survival in the cold season. Stay prepared and venture forth with confidence on your winter adventures!
