By the time you finish reading, you’ll have a clear understanding of which knife best suits your needs and lifestyle. So, let’s jump right in and discover the key features of these formidable contenders, Benchmade and Gerber.
1. The Benchmade - Made in the USA, Mini Griptilian EDC Knife with Drop-Point Blade and CPM-S30V Steel
In case you haven’t heard about the Benchmade knife company. They are known for crafting some of the best knives in the globe and they have been in the knife game for over 30 years.
A truly remarkable stunning design that comes with a razor-sharp blade that’ll make any knife-cutting task seem like slicing through butter. Slim, lightweight, and constructed to last, I can’t anyone going wrong with adding this EDC to their collection.
Overall, I really am happy with this knife. It meets all my preferences as an everyday carry knife and something I would want with me while hunting or fishing or anything of that nature. It is priced higher than the gerbers, but with the quality of this knife, you are getting what you pay for.
Pros
- High-quality steel
- Good grip
- Slim & lightweight
Cons
- Tad Pricy
2. Gerber - Gerber Gear Strongarm - Fixed Blade Tactical Knife for Survival
Almost everybody has heard of the Gerber knife company in the prepper or outdoor community, they are best known for their Gerber Bear Grylls in my opinion. Almost all of my hunting friends have this knife. But in this comparison, we are focusing on Benchmade vs Gerber para frame.
This is a good lightweight EDC knife that is constructed entirely out of steel. It’s got a frame lock handle design and has a rugged pocket clip to attach to your pants.
Like the other eight knives in the series, this one is a knife of beauty with an open frame and fine edge locking. It’s one of those knives designed for everyday use.
Overall, this pretty good option to go with if you just want an everyday carry knife and has the basic features that meet your requirements. Although, one thing I’m not a big fan of is not having a grip.
This isn’t really a big deal for most people but it’s just something that I personally like in my knives.
Pros
- Affordable
- Lightweight
- Frame locking
Cons
- Steel grip
Choosing The Right Knife Guide
Let’s talk about two key most important things:
- Function– What do you plan on doing with the knife
- Durability– How your knife will hold up against time
How your knife works effectively and holds up against time, in the long run, is the key to buying a knife.
Most of the time any knife you go with will meet most of the standards we have as outdoor enthusiasts but sometimes it’s better to know everything you can about the product. That way you can get the best use of your knife when doing the things you enjoy.
The functionality of your knife varies with brands and the purpose intended for the knife. Some knives have multi-functions, such as flint fire starters, compasses to emergency whistles.
But as far as knives go, there are a lot of good options to go with on the market right now. These 2 on our list are some of the more popular knives right now and function similarly the only big difference is the price.
The blade of the knife is the most important part
It’s debatable between the handle and or blade of the knife. I and many others out there believe the blade is the most important part of the knife and when buying a knife you should always check to see if it’s made out of CPM-S30V STEEL or some other high-quality steel. Normally knife steel is made with the 10 series, for example, the 1095, 1080, and 1084 family.
Other factors:
A good grip will also help you to place a better grip on your knife and ultimately make it easier to cut things. Another thing to look at is the knife warranty. Does the company offer a lifetime warranty or any limited warranty on the product?
Conclusion:
I like both knives in this Benchmade vs Gerber knife buyers guide, but hands down we’re going to have to go with the Benchmade Grizzly Ridge over the Gerber Paraframe I.
That’s not to say one is better than the other it’s all about personal preference overall I like the design of the Grizzly better and the gripping kind of wins me over, I suppose it’s the icing on the cake that wins this product comparison.
