In the last post, we covered what you can do with tampons in an SHTF situation, and for this one, we will be talking about the uses of condoms in survival for bugging in or out.

The goal is here to provide you with alternative uses for these everyday household items so that you are able to think outside of the box in a real SHTF scenario.

One of the things these types of posts teaches is how to improvise and they teach these sorts of things in the military or survival school

The type you should look for is a non lubricant condom for survival.

20 Ways To Use a Condom In A Survival Situation Below:

1. Birth control

For the main purpose and what it was intended for, I think we all can agree on if there is a short-term survival scenario, a means of birth control would be the smart choice if you are going to be active.

2. Used to create traps for small game

It’s able to be used as a small piece of cordage. For building a small trap.

3. Cover water or food

If you have a container that needs to be covered then you are able to stretch a condom over a bottle or store some type of food in it.

4. Cover gun muzzle

In the military, they used to cover their gun muzzles to protect them form dirt or rain.

5. Store important things like phone

You are able to store a number of things inside a condom. It can be stretched out and storing something like a phone or other small electronic device will be safe for the time being if you are going to have it during a survival situation.

6. Tie down tarp

Cordage is nowhere to be seen and no materials to make any around and don’t want to spend time finding any material, in a wilderness survival situation you are able to tie down tarps with a couple of condoms.

7. Homemade fishing bobber

Just as good as the tampon homemade bobber, (which has similar uses, and also has many uses of condoms in survival) yet probably even easier to use.

8. Store matches and fire-starting material

Not only can you store matches, but you are able to fit fire-starting material and a lighter inside a condom to prevent it from getting wet.

9. Rubber band for slingshot

To hunt the small game you are able to use a couple of condoms for a slingshot rubber band and a piece of paracord.

10. Build shelter, lean to, tripods

Construct bushcraft shelters, tripods, and other wildcraft buildings.

11. A waterproof hat

For whatever reason, if you did not want to get your hair wet, I suppose you are able to use a condom as a waterproof hat. They are surprisingly stretchy and you are even able to put your entire head inside a condom.

12. Water bucket

Having a way to gather water in a container is another survival use for the condom. The survival condom can be used to hold a fair amount of water and some even suggest that if you leave water in a condom for several hours the UV rays from the sun will purify the water. Not sure if this is true, but in theory, it may just work.

13. Gloves

If you are worried about getting an infection then use gloves on your hands as a part of your first aid kit, this survival condom can be used to help with a number of life-saving gear.

14. Wound dressing

The condom rubber can be stretched around your wrist, arms, or legs depending on the size you are. By adding a couple of condoms together you are able to use them wherever on your body. Holding your dressing in place until you are able to get to help can be a life-saving survival item.

15. Wear for crossing streams

Some parts of the world have extremely filthy water and to not chance getting any type of infection when crossing streams you can wear a condom if you are a male, of course.

16. Use on feet

Have a pair of homemade footwear with a survival condom. Perhaps you are having to cover up a cut, this would be great to keep out dirt.

17. Signaling device

Not being very noticeable, it is something, and when inflated, a great big blue condom can be noticed, especially when there are a few together.

18. Lost limbs

If you lose a finger you can wrap the area with a condom to prevent infection until you are able to get further help.

19. Waterproofing items

If you want to waterproof items like lighter or matches and electronics, then it is a good thing to have a few condoms on hand in your first aid kit.

20. Fire-starting material

Not only can you store materials to start a fire, but you are able to use the condom as a tinder, set it on fire, and then it will actually work quite well as fire-starting material. Don’t breathe in the fumes!

Conclusion

From storing water as a container to holding some pretty important items, to protecting against childbirth. There are so many uses of condoms in survival and the main thing to take away from this is always thinking how a regular household item can be used for so many other purposes.
